India feels increasingly exhausting to watch. There is so much talent, capital and ambition here, yet an unreasonable amount of public attention is consumed by caste disputes, political controversies, social divisions and the controversy of the week.

I think we need to become considerably more obsessed with building. Better companies, better infrastructure, better research, better technology and better institutions.

This matters for business too. Companies should be spending their time working on products, hiring people and competing globally, not constantly accounting for regulatory uncertainty, political noise and unnecessary friction.

India has no shortage of people capable of doing extraordinary work. I just wish more of our attention went towards making it easier for them to actually do it.
